A retreat for Triratna Order members and GFR mitras only

Viveka was ordained in 1997 and was chair of the San Francisco Buddhist Center until very recently. She has a deep love of meditation and is an extremely popular retreat leader in the US and internationally. After many years of planning Viveka is finally coming to Aotearoa NZ this December. She'll be spending a couple of weeks at Sudarshanaloka leading two retreats.

Order members and GFR mitras are welcome to attend one or both retreats.

The overall theme of the retreats is Bodhicitta and Mahamudra Practice. Viveka will be drawing on the 'Eight Verses for Training the Mind' by Langrithangpa and will ensure the second retreat supports further deepening for those who also attend the first retreat.

You can find a talk she gave at the recent International Council meeting in India about one of these verses here.

We have listed the retreat dates early so people can start considering whether or not they wish to attend.

To begin with from the 9 April, bookings for this retreat and the Bodhicitta and Mahamudra Practice II retreat will be open to Order members only. Sudarshanaloka relies on holding two full capacity retreats for necessary income so only book if you are sure you can attend. Places will be allocated on a first come, first serve basis.

If there are still spaces available on 23 April we will open bookings to GFR mitras as well. After that we are expecting that both retreats will be fully booked with waiting lists.

A $100 non-refundable deposit will be required at the time of booking to secure your place and the balance needs to be paid six weeks before the retreat begins. If you cancel less than one month prior to the retreat, your retreat fee can only be refunded if the retreat is full and we are able to find a replacement for you. So please be as certain as you can when booking that you are going to attend so that others don't miss out on this very precious opportunity.

There are 24 available beds and space for up to 6 campers. If you want to camp (only way to have a single room), please indicate this when you make your booking.

A $50 travel discount can be applied for those travelling from outside Thames or Auckland who need assistance.

If you find there is a wait list only option when you go to book this means the beds are all taken and/or the retreat is full. Please indicate if you are willing to camp when adding your name to that list. Thank you.
