Picture of Guhyavajra

Guhyavajra is a New Zealander who came in contact with Triratna in 1978 through the Auckland Sangha - meeting Bhante in Christchurch a year later and was ordained in Tuscany, Italy, 1985. He spent thirty nine years living in Europe immersed in Buddhists studies and retreat, working for the Triratna spiritual community in various capacities.

Guhyavajra has a love of the Dharma and meditation with the great good fortune to have studied for many years with Urgyen Sangharakshita and other senior Order members, immersing himself in retreat and the life of the Order. He has also been fortunate to spend a good amount of time in the southern alps of New Zealand where he has a remote meditation hut in the foothills of Kahurangi national park, Central Nelson, adjoining the Anatoki river.

A carpenter by trade Guhyavajra ran a building business in Norfolk England for fifteen years specialising in historical renovation and restoration, with ecological fit outs. Relocating to New Zealand in 2019 he is now land manager at Sudarshanaloka Retreat Centre on the Coromandel Peninsula.
