Maitrikirti
I first came to Buddhism in 2005. After many years of study, going on retreat, meditation practice, and building spiritual friendships, I was ordained as Maitrikirti in 2019. Maitrikirti means "she who is reknowned for her love" and it is a beautiful name to aspire to.
In 2024 I trained as a Buddhist Chaplain with Amitabha Hospice, then an End of Life Doula with the Peaceful Presence Project, Canada. I continued my death education training with experts in the field, such as Zenith Virago from The Natural Death Care Center, Australia. I also Volunteer at my local hospital and support friends and family in my local community with their death journey's.
At present I foster my beautiful, nuerodiverse great nephew, help to look after my 86 yr old father with dememntia, teach mindfulness based yoga, and help to manage Sudarshanaloka Retreat Center.
