Maitrikirti

Picture of Maitrikirti

I first came to Buddhism in 2005 and after many years of study, going on retreat, meditation practice, and building spiritual friendships, I was ordained as Maitrikirti in 2019.

Maitrikirti means "she who is reknowned for her love" and it is a beautiful name to aspire to.
For the past 4 years I have been raising my wonderfull nuerodiverse great nephew, teaching mindfulness based Yoga and helping to manage Sudarshanaloka Retreat Center.

In 2024 I trained as a Buddhist Chaplain with Amitabha Hospice in Auckland, and End of Life Doula with the Peaceful Presence Project in Canada.

This year, so far, has been a wonderful collection of further learnings with Zenith Virago from the Natural Death Care Center in Byron Bay. Volunteer work at my local hospital, and supporting a friend and his family with their death journey.
