Auckland sangha retreat

The Bodhisattva of compassion
When he meditated deeply
Saw the emptiness of all five skandhas
And sundered the bonds that caused him suffering...

The heart sutra, a central text of the Triratna Buddhist Community, is deeply poetic and mystical, yet it is describing the essential nature of our experience. To truly free ourselves, we must go beyond an appreciation of mystery, to an understanding of the "five skandhas" in our direct experience.

These skandhas are form (body), feeling (vedana or feeling-tone), thought, choice (volitions) and consciousness.

On this four night retreat, which includes the Anzac Day public holiday, we will touch into the aggregates or skandhas in our actual experience, and try to take our understanding of the beautiful heart sutra to a new level.

To come on this retreat, you'll need to have at least completed our introduction to Buddhism and meditation course, be a part of the Auckland Buddhist Centre community, and have an established meditation practice at home.
