Metta Bhavana (loving kindness)

The Sudarshanaloka summer retreat will be exploring the theme of loving kindness in relation to basic Buddhist mind training. We offer instruction in two meditation techniques - the Mindfulness of Breathing and Metta Bhavana (cultivation of loving kindness) in context of daily meditation and introduction to the basic principles of Buddhist ethics, with plenty of time for swimming in the rivers and hiking in the bush. A spacious introductory programme suitable for everyone with an interest in personal growth and the Dharma. The food is vegetarian.

The programme is aimed at being able to refresh one's energies in the coastal hills, rivers and bush of the beautiful Coromandel peninsula in context of a friendly spacious retreat that includes the basic elements of Buddhist practice all the while enjoying the sunshine and elemental nature of the New Zealand bush, in good company.

There is an option for attending the first weekend of the retreat leaving on Monday after lunch.
