A path of regular steps
It's been a long time in the planning, but we have finally done it - repalced the rickety old stone steps at the front of the house with a lovely solid, regular, level and easy-to-walk brand new set.
The work entailed felling the old and moribund macrocarpa tree (the stump of which will now make a handy plinth for a Buddha figure or other sculpture), and lots of hard work hauling rocks, builders mix and cement to the site. Our friendly local landscaper did the rock-work, ably supported with muscle-power from the on-site team.
This is the first phase of a make-over, in what we call the 'Front of House' project. Next on the list is to create some raised planter beds for herbs and salads, some benches and other seating, and maybe even a couple of shade sails. The aim being to extend the useable outdoor areas and create a welcoming and attractive approach to the house.
If you would like to donate to this project, or can offer some time, skills or materials, we'd love to hear from you.
