Car parking on the land

We now have car parking on the land at Sudarshanaloka for up to 18 cars.

Internal car parking
We now have internal car parking on Sudarshanaloka land for about 18 visitor and retreat cars excluding community parking - depending on car size and how people park. Car parking on the land was an original part of building consent with the construction of the top retreat centre, which we have now implemented, in part due to increased levels of crime on the Coromandel and Tararu valley generally, including vehicles parked at our front gate. The internalised car parking combined with keeping our gate closed appears to have resolved the problem - taken it off the table.

There are four gravelled car parks:
behind the red shed (3 cars)
midway carpark opposite Amidas camp ground (7 cars)
'the bees' up past the Abhaya slip road before the Stupa (3 cars)
the top retreat centre (5 cars)

For retreats we generally use the 'Red Shed' and 'Midway' car parks and the community will advise given different arrangements. People attending Sudarshanaloka are asked to park in the designated gravel parking areas, no exceptions. Please be advised that there is quite a lot more activity at Sudarshanaloka these days so that people parking casually are frequently inconveniencing work or blocking access to areas for other people requiring access.

There is now a noticeboard above the recycling bins in the lower retreat centre where we will post our car parking policy and essentialise practical points for retreatants attending Sudarshanaloka.
