Family Retreat

Sudarshanaloka hosted a Family Retreat at the end of April in time for the last rays of summer. The retreat was well organised by Dhiraprabha who has a background in education and who is particularly noted for her ease and ability with children and young people. The structure of the retreat allowed for organised adventure, swimming, marshmallow roasting and ritual activities for the kids, giving time for parents to flake off, contemplate flies on rocks by the river, practice Dharma and socialise. There were also organised ritual pujas with music and chanting, shrineroom activities in which the kids could participate, plus time away for parents to sit on in peace and quiet.
There is something fundamentally human hearing the laughter and squeals of children carried on the wind, tearing about the place enjoying the water holes, adventures in the bush and roasting marshmallows on sticks by the bonfire.
Here's hoping it becomes an annual event.
