News: Spring/summer round up
During the spring/summer lead in to New Year we were able to host 8 retreats representing a variety of Dharma themes with 90 people attending overall, not counting peope on solitary retreats in our huts, community members, visiting friends and volunteers.
The retreats on the whole ran very well with peope benefiting from dharma practice, friendship, good food and the isolated elemental nature of the bush here at Sudarshanaloka. The weather has been mixed ranging from high summer to storm, rain, thunder and lightning. All the retreats were special in their own way most notable the Order visualisation retreat in November, new years retreat, young peoples retreat, volunteers retreat and turning toward Death and Dying. An ABC sangha retreat, Mens nissaya Order retreat and working in nature retreat threaded in between things. A full range of retreats for peope new to Triratna through to ordination training and beyond.
The volunteers retreat was productive in terms of getting things done including a pedestrian gate at our main gate, safety rail to the balcony at the top retreat centra, significant landscape improvements, an addition to the wood shed plus maintenance to the huts and other tasks.
Plus, the council did a substantial amount of road work widening the 'S' bends between the two fords at the start of the Tararu valley road, greatly improving the safety and comfort of vehicles coming on retreat.
