Living with kindness

Starts 6 Jul 2024

Elephants sheltering a baby elephant

Cultivating kindness for newcomers and experienced practitioners alike

Just as a mother would protect her only child at the risk of her own life...let thoughts of boundless love pervade the whole world. - from the Karaniya Metta Sutta

Kindness is one of the most basic qualities we can possess, and one of the most powerful. In Buddhism it is called metta - an opening of the heart to all that we meet. Any friendly feeling contains the kernel of metta. It is a seed that is waiting to be developed, right here amidst the conditions of our daily life.

On this retreat we will encourage the seed of kindness to grow into a warm, expansive heart and beyond. A heart that is not only happier and more fulfilled but is better able to expand and empathise with the joys and sufferings of all living beings.

There will be talks, discussions and reflective practices as well as periods of meditation, silence and ritual. There will also be opportunities to enjoy the wild natural beauty of Sudarshanaloka and simply be in the supportive company of like minded people.

Suitable for newcomers as well as those with experience in our tradition.
