Metta retreat

Starts 11 Jan 2025

Sthiraratna's shrine

The defining characteristic of skilful action, speech, or thought is its freedom from narrow self-interest.

A retreat based on the Karinaya metta Sutta in context of Sangharakshita’s ‘Living with Kindness’. We will explore the text in light of Bhante’s presentation, using our time together to reflect on our personal understanding of ethics, love, and on our particular ‘wedge of self-interest’ – with periods of silence to contemplate in the summer forests and rivers of Sudarshanaloka.

With practical exploration of the theme through meditation, talks and group discussion, this retreat will draw together Sangharakshita’s teachings on metta to equip those attending to return to their lives and sanghas with greater confidence and connection with their practice, aware of self and other.
