Stupa anniversary & mitra ceremony

Starts 15 Feb 2025

Tessa and the Sudarshanaloka Stupa (Tessa Benkt & ABC)

A double celebration

Come join us for this day of celebration!

We celebrate Sudarshanaloka community member Tessa Herkt making the commitment to become a mitra and deepen her spiritual practice with the Triratna Buddhist Community, and we do this within the context of the annual stupa celebration and Parinirvana Day.

The stupa is an important Buddhist monumental structure and is the spiritual and symbolic apex of Sudarshanaloka.

The stupa at Sudarshanaloka is one of several within the Triratna Buddhist community containing ashes of Dhardo Rimpoche, a significant teacher and friend of Sangharakshita, the founder of the Triratna Buddhist Community. The consecration of the stupa by Sangharakshita on Parinirvana Day 1997 initiated an annual tradition at Sudarshanaloka of coming together on this weekend to reflect on Parinirvana - the Buddha's ultimate release - and to celebrate the life of Dhardo Rimpoche.
