Turning Towards Death & Dying

Starts 9 Jan 2027

On this open retreat we will be turning towards the beauty of impermanence, the heartbreak of our own and others' inevitable mortality and reflecting on how we can wake up to the truth, prepare the way and live a life of deeper meaning.

The programme will include: meditations on our own death & impermanance in general. Meditations on mindfulness, love and compassion, for ourselves and others. Ritual, mantra and ceremony. Talks and reflection exercises, creative sessions, discussion and personal sharing sessions.

There will also be spacious periods of silence, allowing time to relax and absorb the natural beauty of the surrounding forest and rivers at Sudarshanaloka, so bring your togs, if you enjoy swimming, as there are some magical swimming holes and waterfalls.

On our retreats we share simple chores including food preparation as part of our collective practice of building friendships and caring for each other.

This retreat is open to all but we ask you to get in touch if you are new to Buddhist practice and/or new to exploring this topic of death and impermanance in depth.
